Asus Gaming Laptop for High End Gamers
Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE GX551QS
Zephyrus is a Asus Gaming Laptop line of comparatively dense “serious” notebooks from Asus ROG, with a influential processor and filmed card. How it happened that the top-end AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop were combined in this model is not very clear. But add to this a second screen (“Duo” in the name of modern Asus laptops), and the laptop will try to take off with all this, and we will try to describe it.
Configuration and equipment
According to the information on the Asus website, there are three main models of the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE GX551 Asus Gaming Laptop, the main difference between which is the installed graphics card. Actually, we see a similar approach from all other manufacturers: a new model has been released on a new generation of Intel processors, which has three modifications – with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Asus Gaming Laptop, GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop and GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop. A significant difference between the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE GX551 is the use of new processors, too, but AMD, not Intel. We summarized the characteristics of possible configurations of the laptop under study in a table, based on the GX551QS modification that we tested.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 GA503 Gaming
We first got acquainted with the Asus Gaming Laptop Zephyrus G-series laptops almost a year ago – in the spring, a review of the ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401IV model was published on our website. The ROG Zephyrus G15 series, as you might guess, received a larger display, but otherwise we have all the same advantages and the already familiar bundle of AMD CPUs and NVIDIA GPUs. Only now we are talking about Zen 3 generation chips and Ampere graphics – and such a bundle should prove itself as good as possible.
Appearance and input devices
The new Asus Gaming Laptop ROG Zephyrus G15 is very similar to the G14 – the Asus Gaming Laptop design is recognizable, attractive and practical. On the other hand, there were some exclusive features. So, on the metal cover of the case, a special pattern is carved, shimmering thanks to the prismatic film placed below. Such a pattern, however, has a minus: the grooves are clogged with dust, and this becomes noticeable.
On sale you will find two variants of the ROG Zephyrus G15: white (Moonlight White) and gray (Eclipse Gray) versions.
But let’s talk about practicality. The thickness of any “Zephyrus” Asus Gaming Laptop is 20 mm, and the weight is 1.9 kg. The laptop is lightweight and compact by the standards of “tag”, and together with a small power supply unit it is comfortable to take with you all the time. The manufacturer claims that the laptop’s body has a honeycomb structure that increases the rigidity of the chassis without thickening its walls.
ASUS ROG Strix G15 G512L
The Asus Gaming Laptop ROG G512L is Asus’ new 15-inch gaming laptop under the Republic of Gamers brand, which is essentially a reimagining of past generations with an updated design and, of course, more powerful components. For testing, we were provided with an almost top-end version of the laptop – based on an Intel Core i7-10875H processor with an RTX 2060 video card and a 144-Hz Full HD display. The model has a lot of configuration options, starting with the Intel Core i5-10300H processor and the GTX 1650 Ti video card and ending with the i7-10875H and RTX 2070 Super. Moreover, some configurations can boast of 240-Hz displays with IPS-matrices and a fast response time of 3 ms. there are a lot of similar gaming laptops on the market, so let’s try to see what the Asus ROG G512L model will be able to stand out with.
Appearance and features
Externally, the Asus Gaming Laptop ROG G512L is very similar to its predecessor, only now almost all the plastic “made of metal” has been replaced by a cheaper and lighter plastic. Moreover, at first glance, it is difficult to understand that it is plastic in front of us – the surface tracks from the cutter are so well imitated. We have a model in the “silver ice” color on our review, so the effect is especially noticeable, the laptop looks very interesting in the light. In general, there is clearly a “retro” design, an abundance of corners and the overall complexity of the contours.
ASUS ROG Strix SCAR III G531GW
The development of the Asus Gaming Laptop device market has led to its gradual fragmentation, so today buyers have a very wide choice: from budget to models for demanding gamers. A laptop for the latter category of users will be discussed in today’s review. ASUS ROG Strix SCAR III was designed for those who are looking for high performance in games, but are not ready to put up with large dimensions. Let’s see how this model fits into its positioning.
The appearance of the ROG Strix SCAR III Asus Gaming Laptop was developed by ASUS together with the BMW Designworks Group, therefore, on the one hand, it retained a certain continuity with the previous models of the line, but on the other, it was noticeably updated. At the same time, in the design of the novelty, you can still find the same SCAR (translated from English “scar”), which visually divides the body into two parts. On the metal cover of the display unit, it is visible due to the different direction of the polishing lines.
