The Intel Core i5-10400F is a surprisingly interesting processor. It is slightly faster than the previous generation Core i5-9400, and the F suffix means it is completely devoid of Intel integrated graphics. This is not a problem for gamers using a discrete graphics card, and the lack of a video core allows for lower processor costs and savings. Overall, this is a great low-cost option that doesn’t cost much more than an Intel Core i3.
It has a locked multiplier, so there is no overclocking option. But you can save money by purchasing an H470 or B460 motherboard. Most boards will happily run a 3.9GHz Intel Core i5-10400F, so don’t worry about a low base clock.

The AMD Ryzen 5 3600 is no longer part of AMD’s most recent processor series, but there are strong arguments for AMD Zen 2 processors with their robust performance and efficiency.
